Traditionally there has been a Bride’s Side and Groom’s Side”. Since the bride stands on the left side of the altar area, the seating behind her is considered the bride’s side. The seating behind the groom, which is on the right side is considered the groom’s side. Upon arrival an usher would ask each guest “Bride’s side or groom’s side?” and you would be seated accordingly. There are other variations depending on your religion.
Several years ago the trend changed. You may have seen signs;
As part of the changing seating trends, I remind each couple one of life’s big moments is watching your child get married. Seeing their faces and the many expressions as they go through during the ceremony is a wonderful memory. That is why I suggest to each couple they have their parents seated so they can see their face during the ceremony and not their back. Which means; the mother of the bride would sit on the front row of the right side of the aisle and the groom’s mom would sit on the first row of the left side of the aisle. The mother of the bride and groom always thank me for suggesting this.
